Make mealtime fun, friendly, and full of good habits!

Learning table manners isn’t just about following rules. It’s about showing respect, kindness, and confidence at the table. Here are some easy tips to help kids (and grown-ups!) enjoy every meal together.

1. Wash Your Hands

Before you sit down, make sure your hands are clean. It’s a simple way to show you care about your health and the people you’re eating with.

2. Sit Up Straight

Good posture helps you eat comfortably and shows you’re ready to enjoy the meal. Try to keep your elbows (mostly) off the table!

3. Napkin in Your Lap

Place your napkin on your lap as soon as you sit down. Use it to gently wipe your mouth and fingers if needed.

4. Wait for Everyone

It’s polite to wait until everyone is served before you start eating. If you’re not sure, ask your grown-up, “May I begin?”

5. Use Please and Thank You

Kind words make the table a happier place! Say “please” when asking for something and “thank you” when you receive it.

6. Chew with Your Mouth Closed

No one wants to see your food while you’re chewing. Take small bites and chew quietly with your mouth closed.

7. Try a Little Bit of Everything

You don’t have to love every food, but it’s polite to try a small bite. If you don’t like something, quietly leave it on your plate.

8. Say Excuse Me

If you need to leave the table, say “Excuse me” first. It shows respect for everyone at the meal.

Bonus Tip: Help Clean Up!

When the meal is over, offer to help clear the table or wash dishes. Teamwork makes mealtime even better!

Remember, table manners aren’t about being perfect. They’re about making everyone feel welcome and comfortable. Practice these tips, and you’ll be a table manners superstar in no time!
